In October, our fair city was treated to the magnificence of the Ringling Brothers Circus elephants. On October 12th, the traditional parade from Cambridge took place with a grand procession to the Boston Garden. A couple days later, a king sized buffet was dished up on Hanover Street for these gentle giants. Peering down Commercial Street as they approached gives one pause. Linked together by holding on to each other's tails, they ambled up Hanover Street to take their place across from Paul Revere on his steed and stand in the shadows of St. Stephen's Church. They delicately munch on carrots, apple, bananas, loaves of bread while gazing upon the wide-eyed children and adults alike. The highlight came when whole watermelons were rolled out for desert. A colossal foot and a little bit of pressure released the bounty of their treat.
