We Are Together (2006)

We Are Together is the extraordinary story of Slindile Moya and the The Children of Agape Choir born out of the Agape Orphanage in South Africa. Founded by Zodwa Mqadin (Grandma to the children), the Agape is an oasis of love, learning and song.

The film becomes intimately involved with Slindile and her family, which has been ravaged by AIDS. And yet, the children’s spirit and resilience is nothing short of phenomenal – their music uplifting. As the film trailer says, “from (their) music comes the journey of a lifetime”.

Angels in the Dust (2006)

Angels in the Dust is the story of a university-trained therapist and her mission to provide a home for children whose lives had been torn apart by AIDS and the trickle-down effect of apartheid.

Marion Cloete and her family leave behind a comfortable life in Johannesburg and dedicate their lives to create a safe and nurturing place where children regain a sense of normalcy – a place where they can thrive.

The Boys of Baraka (2005)

America’s growing economical gap and its repercussions are the driving force behind this film. The Boys of Baraka takes us on a journey with four boys from a daunting Baltimore (Maryland) neighborhood across the ocean to East Africa.

As the documentary unfolds, we follow the boys as they embark on a unique opportunity to break free of the destructive lifestyle their families endure through a special educational program. The place is the Baraka School, founded in 1996. Its name “Baraka” means “blessing” in Kiswahili, the native language of eastern Africa. Each boy adapts in his own way to the wonder of Africa and transports the lessons learned back to the place he calls home.
